Savage brings out a new version of its famous AXIS II, the Savage AXIS II Hardwood, with Boyds’ noble wooden canopy A resistant rifle, with simple ergonomics and slender lines. Serial equipped with adjustable height and point of view.

The cannon is 22” (559 mm) and a “sport” contour. Made of carbon steel with a striated following the technique of “button rifling”, from which Savage is a real specialist, making it a rifle with very good precision. Another feature, which makes the rifle precise, is the binding system between the cannon and the action, by twist, which allows to establish an exact “headspace”.

The action is completed with a floating head lock that ensures that you can autofocus during the block, supporting in a uniform way in the hole of the action and making the bolt face exactly squared with the base of the cartridge. Another element that results in the good precision of the rifle. In handmade rifles, this is not a big problem, but it tends to increase the price. With the SAVAGE, the head of the lock is separated and connected to the body of the lock by a rod with a bit of soot. When we close, the floating head can self-center, which results in a perfect coupling of the tiles, leaving the face of the lock head to square.

The trigger is the ACCUTRIGER, one of the best standard triggers on the market, which is almost impossible to find in a rifle of this price segment. It is visually characterized by the security tab that displays the trigger, called AccuRelease. This is an additional security feature that blocks the ridge and prevents the shot unless our finger completely covers the face of the trigger. If pressure is applied to the trigger from one side, the gun will not fire, because the insurance has not been pressed. It complements this feature with a two-position manual insurance, located behind the action and which is silent and easy to operate even with gloves.

Its behavior is excellent, ultra-cut and breakage as a glass rod. It provides a sharp shot, which is valid even for accurate shooting. It also supports easy regulation by the user, in this case and for this model from 0.680 Kg (2.5 pounds) to 2.72 Kg (6 pounds).

Unlike other competition rifles, the feeding system is through a quality removable charger, with capacity for four rounds. The charger, of metal and polymer, is emptied in the belly of the culata, remaining at the bottom of it. The canopy also has two bolts bearing swivel rings, to be able to place a portafusil strap.
