The AXIS range is the entry segment to the rifles SAVAGE, economic rifles, but well finished and with a lot of technology. These rifles are available in numerous calibers and exist in different custom variants. With this we mean that, beyond the basic model, there are solutions that carry additional equipment series, such as bases and/or visores. Them SAVAGE AXIS II is the evolution of the AXIS model, which follows in the catalogue of the Massachusetts brand.

The new version of the AXIS is characterized by a renewed tin, moulded by injection in a discreet black color, extremely resistant, with better ergonomics and more slender lines. Since it is a very economical rifle, it does not have the ACCUFIT system patented by SAVAGE, still, ergonomics have not been neglected.

Slenderness that you notice when you grab it, a feature that will thank the smallest hands. Other positive aspects of its ergonomics are its excellent 1” (25.4 mm) anti-regress cantonera, especially mullida, so it easily absorbs the “patada” of the most powerful calibers. The keeper has intelligent cuts, where the fingers of the support hand naturally fall, allowing a comfortable, effective and stable grip. In the case of the shooter also adopts a cutting strategy, where the palm rests and a small cap at the base of it, allowing a firm and comfortable push.

Unlike other competition rifles, the feeding system is through a quality removable charger, with capacity for four rounds. The charger, of metal and polymer, is emptied in the belly of the culata, remaining at the bottom of it. The canopy also has two bolts bearing swivel rings, to be able to place a portafusil strap. It also stands out for the use of internal steel pillars to settle the action, in a precise and stable way.

With regard to other constructive features, these are common to other rifles of SAVAGE, which is a guarantee of accuracy and reliability for this rifle. It has a 16” heavy barrel (406 mm). Manufactured in carbon steel with a striated following the technique of “button rifling”, from which this manufacturer is a specialist, one of the circumstances responsible for its good accuracy. The same is ripped on its tip by a thread with 5/8 24" thread, protected by a metal thread cover. Another feature, which makes the rifle precise, is the binding system between the cannon and the action, by twist, which allows to establish an exact “headspace”.

Logically, action is the same as we can find in the 110 series, for a mere question of scale economy. It is rounded, as we have said on other occasions, it is machined from a round bar. With a wide expulsion window, this variant differs from others in which it brings a series Picatinny rail already installed, prepared to receive rings with its corresponding optics.

The action is completed with a floating head lock that ensures that you can autofocus during the block, supporting in a uniform way in the hole of the action and making the bolt face exactly squared with the base of the cartridge. Another element that results in the good precision of the rifle. In handmade rifles, this is not a big problem, but it tends to increase the price. With the SAVAGE, the head of the lock is separated and connected to the body of the lock by a rod with a bit of soot. When we close, the floating head can self-center, which results in a perfect coupling of the tiles, leaving the face of the lock head to square.

The trigger is the ACCUTRIGER, one of the best standard triggers on the market, which is almost impossible to find in a rifle of this price segment. It is visually characterized by the security tab that displays the trigger, called AccuRelease. This is an additional security feature that blocks the ridge and prevents the shot unless our finger completely covers the face of the trigger. If pressure is applied to the trigger from one side, the gun will not fire, because the insurance has not been pressed. It complements this feature with a two-position manual insurance, located behind the action and which is silent and easy to operate even with gloves.

Its behavior is excellent, ultra-cut and breakage as a glass rod. It provides a sharp shot, which is valid even for accurate shooting. It also supports easy regulation by the user, in this case and for this model from 0.680 Kg (2.5 pounds) to 2.72 Kg (6 pounds).

In short, it is a product of access to the brand that allows access to technology SAVAGE any user. A rifle of the so-called battle, resistant and with good precision, which is configured as a good choice for new users or those looking for a good hunting alternative at content price. In addition, it is light, 3 Kg, which gives it good polyvalence in terms of its use in different hunting modalities.
