The new Ruger Scout is now available with a synthetic black light composite. The composite cane reduces the weight of the rifle to just 2.8 Kg., 350 grams less than the popular version with laminated wood cane. This new version features a front aluminum seat block and a rear aluminum pillar that positively place the ation and freely float the canyon of just 41 cm. for exceptional precision.

The new canopy, available in diestro rifles relayed in .308 Win., contains the versatile adjustable shooting length found in all models of current Scout rifles. Recognizing the importance of a rifle with an appropriate fit, Ruger developed this adjustable system, which allows the shooter to change the shooting length to suit his individual needs.

A swivel bolt is moulded in the cane immediately in front of the loader well. This allows to pierce the tin and install a third rotary bolt to use with the popular three-pointed "Ching" straps.

Developed in conjunction with Gunsite Academy, the oldest private firearms training facility in the United States, the Scout rifle is a relatively light and multi-purpose rifle, in line with Colonel Jeff Cooper's Scout rifle concept. Based on the Ruger M77® family, the Scout rifle has M77 features such as the Mauser-type controlled feeding system and integral look assemblies and is supplied with a 10-bath detachable metal charger. The rifle guard and the loader hole are formed with nylon reinforced with fiberglass. The releasing mechanism of the charger is a push paddle forward Mini style-14 right in front of the guard.

Given the lighter weight of the composite canopy, these new models are equipped with a radial port mouth brake installed from the factory ( thread 5/8"-2(4). A thread protector is sent with each rifle and can be used to protect the barrel thread if the mouth brake is removed.

The Ruger Gunsite Scout rifle came with a medium contour cannon, forged and fried with a protective anti-drying post-view point and an adjustable “ghost ring” type rear wing mounted on the frame. A Picatinny lane mounted on the front offers options for mounting a variety of optics, , reflex look and red dots to aim with "both eyes open" and enable a super fast goal acquisition.

There are also polymer chargers available for Scout with capacities of 10, 5 and 3 bullets. These resistant and soft power chargers are durable, easy to load and feed smoothly. The 3-bath charger is almost on the ground and is a great accessory to have during the hunt. These polymer loaders can be disassembled and re-assembled easily for cleaning and have been tested for operation and fall at extreme temperatures ranging from -30 °F to +140 °F. An anti-pressure dust cover, including with each charger, keeps the internal parts of the charger clean and allows the long-term storage of a charger without risk of deforming the loader's feeding lips.
